Get Hippy With The Dwayne Haggins Band

On Nov. 27, a Saturday evening featured rock and roll band Dwayne Haggins playing a fantastic show at the Emmaus Theatre where they got the crowd up on their feet and dancing. Playing a gorgeous set with psychedelic backgrounds, it was a night you wouldn’t soon forget.

Composed of five members the band features Dwayne Haggins on vocals and guitar, Matt Woyda on bass, Ahren Shreeve on guitar, Mario Perrett on saxophone, and Phil Antoniades on drums.

Based in Boston, MA., fresh from their tour in Ireland, Dwayne Haggins made a show stopping visit to play their hearts out for Emmaus. With a special appearance of their band’s mascot, “Booty,” a pink plastic reindeer, the night truly felt special.

The band states their general ethos is, “Be Hippy,” according to Perrett.

They pride themselves on their relaxed and playful attitude. Taking everything in stride, they’re an incredibly laid-back band in love with their music and passionate of what they do.

With music that you could feel to your core, they shared the importance of familiarity between members that you could feel on stage as they captured the essence of good old-fashioned rock and roll.

“Pick the people you want to play with more than the player,” Haggins said. The band has a very tight-knit relationship with each other despite revolving members and other solo style gigs they're involved in when not playing together.

Long time friend and merch dealer Karen stated, “If you aren’t dancing, your butt’s broken!”

They’d love to come back and feel the energy of Emmaus once again. Stream their music on Spotify, iTunes, and Google Play Music and find them on Instagram @hagginsmusic.
